About the Artist

Sepi Borhani

Sepi is a Richmond Hill–based visual artist whose practice explores the human figure, identity, emotion, and lived experience. Working primarily in acrylic, graphite, and charcoal, she blends representational technique with expressive and symbolic elements to examine themes of strength, vulnerability, and self-discovery, often through the recurring presence of women and the natural world. Her work has been exhibited in juried and group exhibitions throughout Toronto and York Region.

Her work stems from the figurative tradition and seeks to create a visionary tension. The realism of her figures merges into a collective dream and is transfigured by it: not an echo of the past, but an imaginary place that has always existed. Her current body of work explores the inner emotional world of women through quiet, contemplative figures set in connection with nature, using stillness and the natural world as a language for strength and transformation.

Drawing on literature, music, and personal experience, Sepi hopes to capture the vibrant energy of her figures and invite viewers to connect with their own emotions and perspectives.
